There is a documentary called ‘Degenerate Art: The Art and Culture of Glass Pipes’ that actually covers the history and relevance of Bob Snodgrass and his art. How it was first sold at Grateful Dead shows in the parking lot and helped grow borosilicate glass art. Bob invented many aspects of borosilicate glass art like fuming the glass with precious metals. A genuine Snodgrass is as much a piece of history as it is a piece of glass art.
This is a large Deadhead tip by Bob Snodgrass. Bob calls them “Rasta Beads”. He told us he made the tip to take a variety of RAW tips from small singles, to larger cones. A smaller tip sinks down, way down in this large tip, and larger cones pinch up a hold earlier towards the end. This large works as a bead or a tip really. It would look fantastic as a heady pendant. These are most affordable genuine Snodgrass solo pieces we’ve ever had. This will be a real scoop for someone out there to get a Snoddy in their collection. Beautiful, exceptionally colorful fuming is thick all over and there are a lot of color hues all over the piece. 2.6 inches tall makes this a true large, and it starts at .6 inches and swells to around a full inch by the tip. Amazing glass art from Bob Snodgrass and we all thank bob for our Snoddy!
The details are many on a piece like this by Bob, and if you are lucky enough to get this piece we encourage you to get in touch with Bob and the @SnodgrassGlass_Official account on Instagram and ask them about your Snodgrass if you have questions.
