Description
There is a documentary called ‘Degenerate Art: The Art and Culture of Glass Pipes’ that actually covers the history and relevance of Bob Snodgrass and his art. How it was first sold at Grateful Dead shows in the parking lot and helped grow borosilicate glass art. Bob invented many aspects of borosilicate glass art like fuming the glass with precious metals. A genuine Snodgrass is as much a piece of history as it is a piece of glass art.
This is a unique ‘Minute Pipe’ by Bob Snodgrass, we’ll call it a marble sherlock. A one of a kind pipe we haven’t seen before, this will be an amazing highlight of any collection! Beautiful fuming is thick all over and there are a lot of color hues all over the piece. On the stem is a gold logo in handwriting script that says “Glass by Snodgrass”. Bob used a mold to create the ridged texture that runs down the pipe. The ridges refract light and the more subtle fuming colors get a chance to shine. There are fumed dimples of colors on the pipe that tend blue and violet. They look nice against the yellow fume of the stem. Fuming in streaks looks great on the texture. The ridges twist out into a smooth crack n’ fume mouthpiece with hues of blue from the silver fuming. A nice retti marble sets this off on the face. 5 inches long, 2 inches high, and 2 inches wide makes this a convenient size. Amazing glass art from Bob Snodgrass and we all thank Bob for our Snoddy!
The details are many on a piece like this by Bob, and if you are lucky enough to get this piece we encourage you to get in touch with Bob and the @SnodgrassGlass_Official account on Instagram and ask them about your Snodgrass if you have questions.
