There is a documentary called ‘Degenerate Art: The Art and Culture of Glass Pipes’ that actually covers the history and relevance of Bob Snodgrass and his art. How it was first sold at Grateful Dead shows in the parking lot and helped grow borosilicate glass art. Bob invented many aspects of borosilicate glass art like fuming the glass with precious metals. A genuine Snodgrass is as much a piece of history as it is a piece of glass art.
This is an amazing UV reactive Maptech bead by Bob Snodgrass. The Maptech background looks great. “Glass by Snodgrass” is in the fume and coated gold. Bob and Bob Badtram worked out their approach to this stenciled fuming earlier this year. There is a fumed Deadhead and the eyes are subtly worked with BluV so they react blue under UV light. The parrot milli pops green with Illuminati. Multiple hidden alien faces are here too, with one alien head worked with BluV in the face, and Lucy in the eyes. A subtle red and blue reaction under UV. There are several stars in the fume and several star millis too. A purple marble, a colorful boro marble, and two orange star millis too. The marijuana leaf in the Maptech is plated with gold and it looks great. 2 inches high, and 1 inch wide at the widest. Amazing glass art from Bob Snodgrass and we all thank bob for our Snoddy!
The details are many on a piece like this by Bob, and if you are lucky enough to get this piece we encourage you to get in touch with Bob and the @SnodgrassGlass_Official account on Instagram and ask them about your Snodgrass if you have questions.
Keith note: UV shots will go up soon.
