Description
There is a documentary called ‘Degenerate Art: The Art and Culture of Glass Pipes’ that actually covers the history and relevance of Bob Snodgrass and his art. How it was first sold at Grateful Dead shows in the parking lot and helped grow borosilicate glass art. Bob invented many aspects of borosilicate glass art like fuming the glass with precious metals. Bob’s apprentices like Hugh Salkind, Brad Tenner, Cameron Tower, Bob Badtram, Brian Padilla and others all played historic roles in glass art too. Bob’s legacy is so broad because of all the techniques he invented and all the artists he mentored. A genuine Snodgrass is as much a piece of history as it is a piece of glass art.
This is an amazing Tophat chillum by Bob Snodgrass with a lot of UV reactive glass. The most exciting chillum we’ve yet seen from Bob. The face is exceptional on the Deadhead and beautiful fuming is heavy all over. Under a UV light this piece is incredible. There’s Lucy, Illuminati and Blu V in this piece for multiple colors under black light. The red of the Lucy did not show up well in the photos, but it pops under a torch. The star of the piece is a large Snodgrass signature in an Illuminati retti. As always, there will be details that only show up during the color change with use. That will be interesting to discover. 6 inches long, 1.4 inches deep, and 1.25 inches wide. Unique glass art from Bob Snodgrass!
The details are many on a piece like this by Bob, and if you are lucky enough to get this piece we encourage you to get in touch with Bob and the @SnodgrassGlass_Official account on Instagram and ask them about your Snodgrass if you have questions.
