Description
Deep blue dichroic glass is used to make the underlying sherlock in this unique collaboration between Liberty 503 and Shipwreck Glass. This is then electroformed over by Shipwreck Glass with copper to make an incredible piece that is literally encased in copper, or ‘copperformed’. Shipwreck Glass, Chip Steeler actually, has a style that is heavily influenced by his years working with museum displays of historical artifacts, and he is known for his work specializing in copper. The opal is encased in the viewing window of the larger of the two attached stabilization discs, both of which are highlighted with elaborate dichroic highlighting, and sandblasted and electroformed reliefs.
This pipe comes with a customer wooden storage and display box.
This is one of three unique pieces that were made as showcase creations for display at our friends at Glassroots Art Show LLC. We were fortunate to be visiting Liberty 503 when these prestige pieces, bound for the glass show, were on tables being prepared for packaging. These were so amazing we simply had to have them, and our friends at Liberty were kind enough to let us poach these unique collaborations.
